Our gorgeous Genevieve Gray, who told me the other day that she might like to be re-named, Genevieve Elizabeth.
Cassie: But your name is Genevieve Gray.
Genevieve: It sounds artsy.
Cassie: Artsy and beautiful.
Genevieve: Genevieve Elizabeth sounds famous like a princess. And rich.
Cassie: (sighing) You want to be rich?
Genevieve: Everyone wants to be rich.
Cassie: Really?
Genevieve: And if you can’t be rich, then you can sound like it.
Cassie: I see. (Pause) Does a girl in your class, by chance, have the middle name “Elizabeth?”
Genevieve: Yes. How did you know that?
Cassie: Just a guess. Anyway, you can’t change your name until you are older.
Genevieve: You mean officially…by the law?
Cassie: Exactly.
Genevieve: But I can tell everyone that my name is Genevieve Elizabeth.
Cassie: Fine.
Genevieve Good.
Cassie: But your name is still Genevieve Gray.
Genevieve: I know.
