Charlie speeds around the corner into the playroom. He halts mid-stride at the blue plastic kiddie table where Gigi and I sit, meticulously painting some cheap “Paint By Number” picture of a horse in a pasture — a little something this creative mother found when she rummaged through a deserted arts and crafts box. Charlie surveys our work and says, with a condescending tone (the artist, all knowing), “You know, it will look much better if you go against the numbers and mix it up a bit.”
