Absolutely love overhearing Charlie whenever he giggles his way through one of his many page-worn Calvin & Hobbes books.
Equally amusing (and a little heartbreaking) is the explanation to his two best buddies (who are over for a play date, which they are calling “guys night” instead of a “play date”) about what’s so funny. His guy pals are very smart and clever, it’s just that they must have different tickle bones. I can hear the disappointment in Charlie’s voice when the explanation of the Calvin & Hobbes joke or play on words falls flat and no amount of reasoning elicits the laugh or giggle he so desperately wants to hear from his intimate audience.
